The role centres on installing and stripping software applications and testing functionality. The position also requires writing technicalreports. In order to be successful in this role, it is fundamental that you understand IT Software and Infrastructure. In terms of software, the position centres on installing, testing and writing physical specifications, it does not require the coding side.The organisation produces products and solutions for Power Utilities internationally. Its products and solutions are primarily focused on renewable integration, smart grid applications, substation automation and distribution automation and include, ActiveNetwork Management solutions, Control solutions, RTUs, Protection, Metering and Communications. Its an innovative company with a reputation for delivering reliable products and solutions.This is a permanent role and the work is based in the Tyne & Wear area.WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING IN YOUR ROLEThe Project Systems Engineer will be responsible for the engineering, integration, testing, commissioning and support of software and IT systems for the delivery of ZIV Smart Grid solutions.Data engineering from field devices through to the software applicationsinstalling & testingwriting physical specifications (not the coding side)Integration, configuration and deployment of software applicationsSystem engineering for control and automation projects (including software and hardware)Configuration of IT infrastructureInterpret clients requirements and engineer, integrate, test and deliver the solution in a professional and timely manner.Prepare Functional and Test specifications and agree with customersProject engineering, including, sourcing, configuration, integration and testInterface with customers on all technical elements and schedulesEngage with sub-contractors and external suppliers for integration of project elements.Produce documentation to meet the customer requirements and gain acceptance and approval from the customer.Software/Hardware deployment, configuration and integration of SCADA data, Communications, infrastructure and software applications.System testing including device testing, integration testing, Factory Acceptance Testing, commissioning and Site Acceptance TestingParticipate in project meetings and assist in the scheduling of activitiesInterface with suppliers of equipment, services and software solutions.Provision of after-sales support for projects, including on-site supportWHAT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITIONMinimum BSc/BEng in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Control or similar disciplineProven ability of delivering IT softwareExperience of tools such as GIT, JIRA and Confluence would be desirableMinimum 2/3 years project engineering experience, preferably within IT or Software sectors involving SCADA or Automation,Software and IT systems background, particularly desirable would be knowledge of server virtualization technologies, web-services, and the Linux Operating System.Control and automation background focused specifically in design, installation, programming and validation of automated equipmentKnowledge of SCADA and HMIs, would be desirableExperience within Electricity Transmission & Distribution and an understanding of substation protection schemes, relays and their operation would be beneficialFamiliarity with the Software lifecycle and development experience would be advantageousService desk experience would be beneficialWHAT ARE THE FINER DETAILS OF YOUR ROLEThis is a permanent role from day one. The roles centres on day shift hours. There is minimal travel associated with this role.
