Job Description

A New Product Development Engineer (NPD) with Injection Moulding experience is needed by a successful Tyneside based Manufacturing companyThe focus of the role is developing and introducing new products and supporting core engineering issues onsite when additional experience and expertise are needed.Your responsibilities will consist of

  • Lead and support new product development activities
  • Develop new and improved patentable solutions that have value propositions to the company’s customer base
  • Planning and Delivery of projects to agreed launch dates
  • Leadership of cross-functional teams to deliver projects
  • Ownership of the staged development process to deliver the project
  • Working with external customers or sales to qualify the project scope or early stage ideas for gate reviews
  • Investigation of competitor advancements and potentially disruptive technologies, involvement with internal and external collaborators to solve technical issues in project delivery
  • Continuous improvement of the delivery process to ensure quicker times to market
  • Facilitate problem solving activities
  • Improve cost and standardisation of manufacturing processes, products and purchased components.
  • Monitor current legislative regulations and directives to ensure new and existing product compliance.
  • Create finished product specifications for customers.
    • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate some of the following qualifications, skills and personal qualities: -
  • Degree qualified in an engineering subject or demonstrable experience.
  • Knowledge of injection moulding tooling and processes
  • Competent in problem solving approaches & design of experiments
  • Co-ordinating project teams to agree and plan new product development activities.
  • Ability to write technical reports and present data to senior management
  • Project leadership &/or management experience
  • Fully understand SPC for the creation of process limits (Minitab).
  • Experience working directly with end users
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, be highly self-motivated and results focused.
  • Possesses good problem solving, creativity and critical thinking
