Job Description

Role: General managerLocation: GatesheadHours: Full time - 45 hours average - weekend work included. Salary: £35,000 plus bonus (KPI quarterly bonus and additional unlimited N.P Uplift )I am currently working in partnership with The Staiths Caf, an independent, busy, gastro Caf / Bar that over looks the River Tyne. Im looking for an energetic, experienced and motivated General Manager to join the talented team, who is able continue thegrow of this up-and-coming family establishment. The successful candidate will manage the daily operations of the caf covering all aspects of the front of house, working closely with the Kitchen Manager who will oversee the back of house. The customers arethe heart of this business so it is essential that the prospective candidate has to be people focused, passionate, driven, ambition and be able to bring new fresh ideas to the table (pardon the pun!) ready to continue the success of this thriving venue.As the General Manager of The Staiths you will organise and supervise the daily operations of the front of house working alongside the Kitchen Manager to ensure everything runs smoothly and effectively - there is no "them and us", everyone works as a team.Once fully trained youll be in charge and expected to deal with the various highs and lows of running a busy operation, whilst always maintaining and professional and respectable manner. You will have a hands on approach and will be meeting and greeting customers,ensuing standards and expectations are exceeded at all times and that the Caf runs smoothly and effectively. You will motivate the team to deliver the best, with time aside to complete essential admin / managerial duties. This is an excellent opportunityfor the right candidate to make a name within the industry from this amazing unique venue. General Manager Key responsibilities:* Day to day management and overall running of the venue.* Oversea and motivate the team, including rotas, lead the shift brief, monitoring standards and staff delegation.* Communicating with clients and customers face to face, via telephone or email in professional manner providing excellent customer service.* Manage the smooth and efficient running of the venue to ensure financial targets are achieved and exceeded* Mange the budget effectively including stock control, ordering and wastage.* Maintain a high level of standards across all areas all in line with company standards.* Manage / develop both front and back of house systems and procedures.* Ensure that all areas of the building and storerooms are cleaned and maintained in accordance with Company guidelines.* Ensure equipment is safe, well maintained and functioning effectively.* Ensure the team complies with all aspects of licensing law, trading standards, food hygiene, health and safety and Company policies.Skills and Experience:* Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role is essential.* Experience of supervising kitchen staff or working with Kitchen Management, 2yrs* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills - the ability to effectively share and communicate in a timely manner.* Experience with budget management* Taking accountability for the management of records/files as required* Strong team leader who enjoys working as part of a supportive Team* Ability to prioritise daily workload ensure deadlines achieved and issues resolved effectively.* Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.* Flexible approach maintained in relation to duties as and when required.* Someone who can train and elevate the level of other staff members.* Passion for coffee, food and customer service with previous experience in a similar role.* Right to work in the UK* Committed to delivering exceptional customer service.* Basic Food hygiene certificate
