Job Description

I am delighted to be working alongside a North East success story - one of the leaders in their field - to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join their Finance team. They are a lively and dedicated business who provide the best service for their clients and their employees alike.Their offices are in a convenient location, with free parking and a great view, with a relaxed vibe and a real team feel. It’s a collaborative environment, with a friendly staff and regular social events.You’ll need to have some proven commercial finance experience, know your way round a pivot table and what SUMIF means, and be confident when it comes to transactional processing, credit control and processing expenses.You will have an analytical eye and be able to notice details that others might miss. You’ll be well organised, and able to manage a fluctuating workload.Main duties:

  • Processing purchase invoices and creation of supplier payments.
  • Maintaining sales invoicing system to produce invoices and statements.
  • Credit control
  • Reconciliation of credit card statements.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Assistance with monthly management accounts including preparation of journals.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate submission of expenses for processing.
  • Assisting Finance team with gathering and analysing data for reporting purposes.
  • Setting up new customers, ensuring all documentation is completed correctly.
  • Organisation and filing of finance documents, including maintaining computer filing system.
  • Providing general admin support to the Finance department.
  • Dealing with internal and external sales and purchase ledger queries.
  • Maintenance of accurate accounting records for annual audit.
  • Assistance in the preparation of quarterly VAT returns
  • Skills required:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience of working in a finance role.
  • Experience of Microsoft Excel.
  • Enthusiasm, positive approach and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Personal Qualities:
  • Desire to study towards an accountancy qualification.
  • Eager to develop and progress
  • Be diligent, with strong analytical skills and an eye for detail
  • Well organised and process orientated
