Job Description

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - English DepartmentSecondary SchoolAre you an experienced and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for an exciting opportunity to support the English department in a dynamic secondary school Do you have a passion for English language and literature and a desire to make a positiveimpact on students learning If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for an HLTA to join our team.At our school, we strive to provide an outstanding education that inspires and empowers students to achieve their full potential. We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable HLTA to work alongside our English department and contribute to the delivery ofhigh-quality teaching and learning experiences.Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of engaging and interactive English lessons, supporting the needs of students across different year groups and abilities.
  • Collaborate with teachers to differentiate instruction and adapt materials to meet the individual learning needs of students.
  • Provide small group or one-on-one support to students, facilitating their understanding and progress in reading, writing, and language skills.
  • Help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting active participation and fostering students enthusiasm for English.
  • Assist in the assessment and tracking of student progress, providing feedback and support for their academic development.
  • Contribute to the management and organization of classroom resources, ensuring a well-equipped learning environment.
  • Support the implementation of literacy initiatives and interventions across the school.
  • Provide pastoral care and guidance, establishing positive relationships with students and supporting their personal and social development.
Requirements:
  • Relevant qualifications and experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the English curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Passion for English language and literature and a commitment to promoting a love for reading and writing.
  • Ability to support students with their literacy skills, including reading comprehension and written expression.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work collaboratively with the English department and respond to the evolving needs of students.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their best.
  • Experience in supporting students with additional learning needs or English as an Additional Language (EAL) is desirable.
