The Riverside Adolescent Unit in Bristol is a specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) providing assessment, care and treatment for young people who have complex mental health problems. The Unit offers in-patient and day patient care and provides a safe and nurturing environment for young people to work through emotional and psychological difficulties. At present the Riverside Unit, at Blackberry Hill Hospital, Fishponds, is undergoing refurbishment, due to be completed in February, 2021. The team is currently based at Callington Road Hospital in South Bristol operating an extended day service. As well as providing for care of young people, this is an exciting creative time as the team plans for the return to being an in-patient Unit.We pride ourselves on having a cohesive Multi-Disciplinary Team and a very positive and innovative culture. This post will offer the successful candidate a real opportunity for personal and professional development. As a Healthcare Assistant at Riverside you will use essential health care skills whilst also having the opportunity to gain experience of supporting young people in social and recreational activities as well as attending to the environment of the Unit. The job provides many rewarding learning opportunities, and input and innovation is encouraged.Although previous experience of working with young people is not essential candidates should have an interest in working with this client group in an inpatient setting, as well as the necessary personal qualities to enable them to function effectively in what can be a challenging environment. These include high levels of commitment, resilience, positivity and personal warmth as well as excellent team work skills. If you can bring this, you will be well-supported in return. We would welcome applications from a diversity of backgrounds and experience.Successful candidates will be required to complete (or demonstrate previous completion of) the AWP Care Certificate.
