Job Description

Job Title: Health & Safety CoordinatorReports to: Head of Technical Shifts: Monday to Friday Company OverviewIPS part of the Culina Group is the largest co-packer in the UK, working with some of the best-known food brands to provide cost-effective and innovative co-packing, co-filling and co-manufacturing solutions.Job PurposeContributing to the growing success by maintaining and developing the Health and Safety of the site. Managing and co-ordinating site SHE systems to ensure legal compliance and actively promote a positive Environmental and Safety culture focusing on Continuous ImprovementKey Accountabilities

  • Ensuring the site has robust systems and procedures to ensure prevention of theft and criminal damage
  • Implementing improvement actions raised in connection with incidents and accidents
  • Ensuring a suitable and sufficient risk assessment process is establish, implemented and reviewed aligned with group policy
  • Contractor control for planned and proactive site maintenance via Health and Safety Management System and approved contractor list
  • Maintenance of appropriate databases including - Accident Database, training record matrix, Risk Assessment, Shared H&S drive, Aspects and Impacts, Legal Registers and HSE manual.
  • Ensuring that emergency response systems and procedures are effective
  • Managing waste disposal and site hygiene Ensuring that an effective competence management system is maintained
  • Ensuring that the control and mitigation measures identified in the risk assessments are implemented and maintained effectively
  • Understanding and maintaining all aspects of a Health and Safety Management System
  • Ensuring any site audit process involving Health, Safety is maintained and followed by all parties conducted accordingly with group policy
  • Processing (record, investigate and expedite) non-conformities deviations and generate issue learning when relevant
  • Monthly Safety meeting administration – including: - Meeting preparation, action taking and distribution. Attending/assisting meetings, closing out of actions and driving improvements
  • Generating and communicating Health and Safety reports as required
  • Ensuring all necessary legislative and safety licences are maintained
  • Ensuring plant and/or machinery are safe to use and legally compliant
  • Developing and maintaining the affectivity and integrity of SOW/SOP with any associated controlled documentation and record keeping
  • Driving communication of safety within the site via monthly briefings, events reports, safety conversations and toolbox talks
  • Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation, good working practices, Regulatory inspections/servicing compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Able to demonstrate sound experience of ensuring a secure and safe site
  • Have experience applying Root Cause and Trend Analysis
  • Understand the principles of effective Change Management
  • Previous project management experience
  • Experience of Health and Safety audits
  • Have experience applying Risk Management
  • Schedule and practice self-inspection (internal audits) and host client and external audits
  • Expedite non-conformities/compliance as a result of audit inspections
  • Provide the methodology to encourage continuous improvements in order to implement best practices
  • Implement and maintain 3rd party quality agreements to ensure continuous and integrity of the supply of critical equipment and components
  • PC literate with a sound working knowledge of MS Office
  • A personable and professional management style: you will need to liaise and manage our customers functional representatives (Health & Safety, Fire, & Security)
  • Good time management skills with the ability and desire to solve problems
  • Have a flexible in approach to work and working hours
  • Self-motivated with a keen desire to participate as a pro-active member of the team
  • ISOH qualified
  • NEBOSH preferable – NVQ Level 3
