Job Description

Design Development Engineer

  • £32-38k DOE

    • We currently have a superb opportunity for a Design Development Engineer to work for one of the UKs most respected manufacturing businesses based on the coast of Kent. Purpose of the role:To design, develop and deliver commercial product solutions whilst providing customer service excellence across product development delivery. Key Responsibilities:Designs, verifies, prepares and maintains detailed technical design drawings, schematics or specifications using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software and Microsoft software packages (Excel, Word etc) ready for manufacture. Prepares Manufacturing Instructions as required for new products. Resolves manufacturing issues within Production readiness review at the early stages of product design and development.Works closely with design briefs supplied to resolve design details or discrepancies, or to prepare drawings of unusual, complex, or original designs which require a high degree of precision using CAD (Computer Aided Design)or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) equipment. Coordinates drawing and drawing control activities. Experience:
  • Experience in Military industry; or Oil and Gas, Automotive, Aerospace, Subsea or Medical industries,
  • Solid Development Engineering background
  • NPI experience
  • Strong understanding of products, technical processes, operations and logistics
  • Strong background in LEAN principals
    • Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
  • Relevant Engineering qualification e.g. HND/HNC/Degree
  • Proven experience in a Development Engineer role
  • Knowledge of mechanical design principles
  • 3D CAD experience (SolidEdge 3D CAD, FMEA Packages, PM tools e.g. MS Project
  • Good communication skills
  • Proven ability to work in a team
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
