National Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC) Support OfficerLocation: Nationwide -Anywhere within the UK with travel to Police Forces, mainly in England.Salary: Grade 8 - Starts at £40,950 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £45,546 per annumJob Type: Hybrid, Fixed TermHybrid working is a form of flexible working where workers spend some of their time working remotely (usually, but not necessarily, from home) and some in the employers workspace.If you are not currently a police staff employee and are successful for this post, you will be offered A Fixed Term contract.The RoleThe National Volunteer Police Cadets is the UK’s fastest growing uniformed youth group with over 10,000 cadets across more than 450 cadet units within all 44 police forces in England and Wales. The National Volunteer Police Cadets has a vision to be a world-class,socially inclusive uniformed youth group based on the values of British policing, demonstrating every day positive impact in their local communities. Through weekly sessions and social action initiatives, cadets and their leaders voluntarily contribute tensof thousands of hours annually, playing a vital role within community and early intervention policing across all areas of the UK.Building on this success over the last decade, the National Volunteer Police Cadets Safeguarding and Standards Hub (which centrally oversees and supports VPC activities), now led by Deputy Chief Constable Rob Jones of Suffolk Police, has been successfulin securing funding from the Department of Culture, Media, and Sport. This funding aims to facilitate significant growth and development within the Volunteer Police Cadet Scheme between now and March 2025. As part of this funding the role of National VPC SupportOfficer has been created to support the delivery of key performance indicators under the funding, including the growth and development of cadet and leader numbers across police forces across England and Wales by 2025. The principal responsibility of the rolewill be to directly dispense funding to support forces to meet their growth targets over the next 18 months, as well as creating a national cadet leader recruitment campaign to support forces with safe and sustainable growth.As a uniformed youth policing activity, the volunteer police cadets are committed to the highest safeguarding standards, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all young people to be able flourish within VPC scheme. As such, a key part of the role will beto support the ongoing delivery and implementation of the Safe To Operate Standards, a youth sector best practice operating framework which all forces have agreed operate their VPC scheme within. The role will include both supporting forces as they work towardsimplementing the standards, as well as undertaking support assessments directly with forces, offering ongoing guidance and best practice examples.The successful candidate will be naturally self-driven with the ability to work remotely and independently across the UK, using personal initiative to take ownership and responsibility for an often-changing workload with limited supervision. The role willrequire experience in cultivating and maintain professional relationships at all levels of an organisation, as well as proven experience of managing the expectations of a wide range of stakeholders. The ability to work flexibly, with excellent organisational,interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to a wide range of audiences is also key.There are four Fixed Term Contracts available till 31.03.2025.
