Job Description

After a recent acquisition, my client is looking for an Engineering Manager to take charge of a team of 12 including mechanics of all skill levels and electricians.Experience within the transport industry and large vehicles, ie. Vans, Buses, Lorries, very desirable.RESPONSILBILITIES:

  • Act as a Manager for various entities within the transportation industry, overseeing staff members and ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
  • Promote and exemplify the Companys Vision, Beliefs, and Attitudes, emphasizing adherence to Group and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Effectively manage and performance review engineering colleagues under direct reporting lines.
  • Embrace and uphold the Vision and Values of the relevant entities, maintaining and enhancing the businesss brand and reputation.
  • Display, adhere to, and develop behaviours aligned with the Companys Values, Beliefs, and Attitudes, fostering a Can Do and Proactive attitude.
  • Support organizational messages and vision, assisting team members in adapting to change and contributing to project planning and implementation.
PERSONAL KEY SKILLS:
  • Demonstrate a solution-focused attitude, actively supporting planning, communication, and implementation of projects, initiatives, and changes.
  • Manage, supervise, and lead all staff within the company, particularly focusing on Engineering direct reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, Policies, and procedures.
  • Cultivate a culture promoting a healthy and safe working environment for all colleagues.
  • Fulfil responsibilities as Transport Manager on the Operators License, incorporating and promoting Lean engineering principles and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct team meetings using company agendas and communication systems, ensuring timely action plans are monitored and supported for achievement.
  • Assist team members in personal development, manage 1-2-1s, performance appraisals, target setting, and review meetings.
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and selection processes for new team members.
  • Assist in investigations and disciplinary proceedings as needed.
  • Step in to cover various responsibilities, such as meetings, external events, networking, and representing the company.
JOB PURPOSE
  • Oversee effective vehicle inspection, maintenance, and servicing, ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize problem-solving and analytical skills to enhance fleet efficiency and reliability.
  • Demonstrate financial awareness and budget control to achieve financial targets.
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve operational targets.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONExpertise and Knowledge:
  • Engineering Workshop Management
  • Relevant experience in a management role
  • Financial awareness and budget control
  • Effective investigations and performance management
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Strong people and communication skills
Technology:
  • Experience and ability to operate Engineering Maintenance Systems
  • Adaptability to new and upgraded management, diagnostic, and on-board information systems
Qualifications:
  • Hold a Transport Managers CPC
  • Possess relevant technical qualifications in Engineering maintenance
  • Attain new qualifications as required by the role
Role Accountabilities:
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Manage staff, including investigation and disciplinary issues
  • Report daily issues to the Engineering Director
  • Analyse information (breakdowns, repeat defects, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records
  • Allocate fleet and analyse job cards and costs
  • Monitor Company KPIs and participate in audits
