Job Description

The ICT Field Engineer role is a customer-facing position. You will work on various client sites throughout the South West, and you will also work from the main Exeter office, and occasionally from home.You require hands-on technical experience to be considered for this role and you must have a full drivers licence.In this position you will play a key role in the growth of our clients ICT Engineering Team by supporting key clients with their technical issues.Principal Responsibilities/Duties

  • Remote and onsite support of customers.
  • Proactive monitoring of ICT installations, MPLS Networks and SDWAN through dedicated tools.
  • All aspects of remote desktop support, including, installing Software, the installation of Printers/Drivers/Patches, user profile and software issues, and more.
  • Support and consult with 3rd Party Vendors.
  • Active Directory Administration such as password resets, new starter and leaver requests, security group changes.
  • Office 365 Administration.
  • Assist with installation & support of networking solutions, including, LAN, WAN and MPLS.
  • Router and switch configurations.
  • Prepare configurations for Change Requests.
  • Make scheduled changes to Routers/Switches during change windows.
  • Ensure Firmware updates are completed during scheduled downtime.
  • Remote Management & Configuration of Hosted/Managed Firewalls.
  • Writing initial configurations to meet customer requirements.
  • Create firewall rule sets and administer Firewall Rule Changes.
  • Ensure Firmware updates completed during scheduled downtime.
  • Remote Management & Configuration of Managed Wireless Solutions.
  • Manage support tickets, logged by customers or automated systems.
Essential Skills
  • Highly proficient in the use of remote support applications and tools.
  • Experience in Server 2012R2 onwards, Windows OS (Window 10 onwards).
  • ICT Engineering experience.
  • Experience of VMware and Citrix is desirable but NOT essential.
  • Exposure to PRTG Network monitoring desirable.
  • Exposure to Barracuda Managed Workplace (formerly Level Platforms) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP.
  • Excellent knowledge of LAN Switch troubleshooting/configuration.
  • Excellent knowledge of Router troubleshooting/configuration.
  • Excellent knowledge of Wireless troubleshooting/configuration.
  • Excellent knowledge of Firewall troubleshooting/configuration.
  • Good understanding of VLAN, QoS and MPLS.
  • Strong organisational skills with a methodical approach.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and work to best practice.
  • Must be able to take initiative and solve problems on your own.
  • Excellent Communication Skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to keep accurate record of work completed and actions taken, using Managed Service Software.
  • Good all-round IT literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Time management and the ability to complete work in a timely manner
  • People focused individual, good attention to detail and the ability to think creatively to solves problems.
  • Team player, who can take ownership and a methodical approach.
