Job Description

Heating Design Engineer - Renewable - Hybrid - £40,000 - £44,000Role: Renewal Heating Design EngineerField: HVAC/Renewal Technologies/ Low CarbonLocation: The role offers flexible working, potential to work from home and or in the offices located in Exeter and LeedsSalary: £40,000 - £44,000Benefits include: Starting holiday allowance (25 days plus bank holidays), Increasing to up to 30, Flexible working, Paid Travel Expenses, Private Health Insurance.A leading and award-winning manufacturer of Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP) are looking to recruit a Renewal Heating Design Engineer.The ideal candidate will have an understanding of M&E building service design and a strong interest in low carbon technologies.The Role: You will be involved in performing design calculations and using design software packages. The role involves occasional travelling to various sites to help design the installation of the ground source heat pumps.Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal departments to grow the GSHP Installations on projects of varying sizes
  • Demonstrating your expertise when considering factors such as heat loss and gains and interrogating calculations that are provided by clients and external consultants
  • Develop a multitude of design project schedules with project related tools i.e. MS Project
  • Review and validate M&E Designs which may include; electrical schematics and specifications, energy modelling, controls specification, planning drawings for external plant
  • Maintain and review design reports, ensuring relevant and up to date documentation of design projects
  • Using packages such as AutoCAD, Revit, HevaComp, IES to produce designs for M&E service, site access, external ground-arrays and infrastructure
  • Gather construction information for both existing and planned properties i.e., surveys and architectural plans
  • Assist with full lifecycle development of non-domestic designs from RIBA stages 3-5
  • Adhering to CDM 2015 regulations
  • Work across design disciplines in creating Ground Source design applications/solutions
  • Plan and coordinate subcontractor surveys which may include but are not limited to; M&E surveys, building fabric assessments, services drawings, commission/emitter surveys
Requirements:
  • Mechanical/Building Services degree or relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge of HVAC componentry and instrumentation as well as working knowledge of applying this to both project design and specifications
  • Understanding of GSHP Systems, industry experience of this would be advantageous but not essential
  • Good knowledge of building services design specifically related to wet heating systems
  • Experience of reviewing and providing detailed recommendations on M&E specifications and drawings
  • Understanding of building physics and use of design packages such as AutoCAD, IES, HevaComp, Revit
  • Good IT skills and it would be beneficial to have knowledge around the use of MS Project
  • A degree of flexibility is required as there may be occasional site visits/surveys
