Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Electronics Design Team Leader to join a long standing and growing business based in Exeter. They well established and known for the products they design and the level of expertise they offer in their field.Reporting into the Head of Engineering, this role is instrumentalin driving the direction of the development of the electronics designed in-house. Reporting to the Head of Engineering you will work with them and the leaders of the mechanical and software design teams to develop cross-disciplinary products. You will have responsibility for budgeting and delivery of projects that fall under your remit, including gaining approval from the finance director and reporting progress to the senior management team and external. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous management experience to join a long standing and growing business.Responsibilities:

  • Design of electronic/electrical equipment including PCB layouts and writing firmware/software.
  • Developing and coaching junior members of the electronics team
  • Approval and review of design work from your team
  • Purchasing specification.
  • Draw up BOMs and cost projects & assemblies
  • Engineering calculations, eg thermal management of electronics.
  • Preparing quality assurance documentation in accordance with the QMS.
  • Design and manufacture review with the Management Team.
  • Dealing with clients’ technical queries.
  • Writing of technical literature.
  • Maintenance of technical files.
    • Requirements:
  • A degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent, with 3 or more years’ experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a team
  • Workflow and project management experience
  • A keen and responsible attitude to work and an ability to show initiative in all responsibilities and tasks.
  • Numeracy, accuracy, attention to detail.
  • The ability to follow through a task to its successful conclusion.
  • The ability to learn and absorb new information and training.
  • PCB CAD design tools eg. Altium.
  • At least one firmware/software language eg. C (for Microchip processors ideally).
  • Soldering (including high temperature) proficiency.
