And hope.Education provides prisoners with an opportunity to upskill, increasing their future employment prospects which directly reduces the likelihood of reoffending. Many prisoners will arrive without having basic Maths or English skills. Prison Education ensuresall learners are put through Functional Skills Maths & English, which then puts them on the pathway to vocational learning courses, such as Carpentry, Bricklaying, Painting & Decorating, Plastering & Tiling, Industrial Cleaning, Barbering, Catering and Horticulture.Prisons have a dedicated education department, with classrooms and fully functioning workshops, where teaching and learning can take place. You will be fully supported by an experienced education department, regional manager, and regional prison supportteam. Training and development opportunities are available.Details of this position:This position is for a Curriculum Manager to lead and inspire the education department at a Category B Adult Male prison.The Curriculum Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of the full contracted curriculum at the prison including quality improvement and control, the evaluation of learning programmes and the scheduling and utilisation of all prison educationstaff. The successful candidate will work as part of a management team with the support of an Assistant Curriculum Manager and with direction from their Lot Manager, to ensure full operational delivery in collaboration with the Prison.The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to enrich the lives of adult learners by being responsible for managing the daily operations of the prison education department. They will enable high quality teaching to meet identified learning needs,support the reducing re-offending agenda and improve employability and resettlement prospects.The successful candidate must be a qualified and experienced teacher with an understanding of current pedagogical research and an associated range of inspirational teaching methodologies to maximise engagement and progression, including meeting the needsof SEND learners. A flexible, positive and quality focused approach is essential. They must be a strong leader, with management experience.Key Responsibilities:Effective leadership, motivation and line management of the prison education teamSuccessfully contributing to the future planning of the curriculum and working in partnership with the prison to ensure a fully appropriate and deliverable curriculum for the prison that meets local, regional and national employer needs.Monitoring and positively contributing to effective delivery of all targets including but not exclusively, recruitment, retention, achievement, success, and the teacher quality management plan.Successful delivery of the contracted and funded curriculum through regular monitoring, promoting and exceptional deployment of resources.Effectively managing the budget for resourcing courses and working with the Lot Manager to monitor this.Ensuring appropriate recruitment, scheduling and utilisation of staff whilst assuring the quality of their work.Identifying and implementing staff development needs through a culture of continued professional development.Essential details:Work schedule: Monday to Friday - 37 hours per weekWork time: 8:30 - 17:00, with a 16:00 finish on FridaysSalary scale: £34,815 - £37,095Holidays: 35 days + bank holidays + up to 5 College closure daysTo be considered, suitable candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
