Your new roleWe’re hiring a Commercial Manager for our South West Operations Commercial team. The South West region is the largest region by length of road and hosts a number of significant capital schemes connecting communities, sustaining businesses and supporting the economy.In this role you will lead an embedded regional team of around 6 people to deliver commercial services to Asset Delivery contracts in the South West of the country, with a £120m across over 30 lot suppliers. Asset Delivery is critical to the smooth running of the strategic road network and includes the following high-volume, high profile contracts: Maintenance and Response (M&R), Design Services, Construction Works and Specialist Goods and Services.As well as leading a high performing team, the role offers the unique opportunity to really make a difference to the way we make investment decisions and manage awarded contracts. A key area of focus will be the delivery of commercial services to capital schemes, from development stage through to close of final account and final analyse to identify improvement opportunities. Apply now to be considered!What you’ll be doing• Lead the commercial team to deliver a high quality commercial service to Operations for all maintenance, design services and capital works contracts in the South West region• Build and develop a strong regional commercial team, oversee the work of the team and ensure they deliver their outputs, providing mentoring and support in their professional development• Oversee the preparation of estimates and forecasting in line with contract from project inception to target agreement and manage the overall supply chain spend against budget• Manage the supply chain and all contractual communications, ensure contracts are managed effectively and ensure the management change including Early Warnings and Compensation Event, ensuring issues are escalated as required• Responsible for managing key stakeholders and supply chain, support and drive a collaborative approach• Support the development of a regional procurement plan, understand the demands of the business and ensure the plan meets the needs of the business and support the tendering process for any new frameworks from contract review to commercial assessment.To be successful• You will be degree qualified in either Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying or equivalent and/or Member or Associate member of relevant professional body (RICS / CInstCES/ CIOB etc.)• You will have significant and demonstrable experience within a Quantity Surveying / Commercial function, with proven experience of leading and managing Commercial teams that deliver high value and high complex projects• You will have the ability to interact confidently and effectively as an intelligent and highly credible customer with counterparts from the commercial delivery organisations, operations and commercial experts• You will have proven experience of implementing effective cost and commercial management processes that can deliver value for money for the Client• You will have extensive commercial experience dealing with different forms of contract (NEC suite advantageous) and multiple clients (both private and public).A bit about usThere’s never been a better time to join our Commercial and Procurement team.
