The Genomics Laboratory at the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is at the forefront of NHS Genomic Medicine, providing state-of-the-art diagnostic testing that utilises specialist gene panel, exome and genome analyses to make diagnoses for the benefit of families with rare diseases across the UK and beyond. The Exeter and Bristol Laboratories are working in partnership as the South West Genomic Laboratory Hub, with the Exeter Laboratory focused on specialist endocrine services and exome/genome analysis for rare diseases.Rapid translation of research to improved diagnostic services is facilitated by sharing purpose-built modern office and lab spaces with the University of Exeter Medical School genomics teams, including the world-leading monogenic diabetes researchers led by Professors Andrew Hattersley and Sian Ellard. Further details of the diagnostic service and research interests can be found on our websites.Set in the beautiful cathedral city of Exeter, in the midst of glorious Devon countryside and close to the South West coastline with its stunning beaches, the city boasts excellent links by road, rail and air to the rest of the country, Europe and further afield, whilst being within easy reaches of picturesque Dartmoor and Exmoor scenery.An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Scientist to join a rapidly-expanding team and support laboratory expansion and test development for alignment to the NHSE Genetics Test Directory. The successful candidate will be committed to patient-centred service provision through accurate and timely data analysis, interpretation and reporting of genomic information, with the highest quality of attention to detail, to ensure that patient results are delivered in a safe, efficient and innovative way. The post-holder will have excellent communication skills to ensure effective team-working and ability to communicate complex information at an appropriate level to service users.Non-registered Scientists completing MSC STP training in 19/20, and those eligible for registration in the near future following training though the ACS certificate of attainment (4 yr route) are also welcome to apply.
