Job Description

The words catering assistant and social life dont often go together. Well, not this time. With this job you will not work evenings, you will only work 5 days a week, and you will not be under insane pressure and stress.You will be joining a brand new kitchen team at Pinhoe View in Exeter, Devon. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will support the chefs to prepare meals, maintain a clean and safe working environment, and assist with deliveries.Its a calm and pleasurable working environment, where youll be able to manage your workload and develop your career. Theres a great social aspect to this role where you can interact with people outside the kitchen regularly.Just imagine… home in time for dinner every night. Two days off a week.   • Assisting with the provision of the catering service at Pinhoe View with particular emphasis on the planning, preparation, cooking and serving of meals, taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
  • Assisting with the cost-effective and efficient control of stock including placing orders for food
  • products and the checking/reconciliation of deliveries. Ensure that wastage is minimised.
  • Assisting with researching and creating new menus ensuring meals are of high-quality healthy eating guidelines.
  • Responsible for the HACCP forms/food and hygiene checks.
  • To be responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen
  • To prepare and present meals and snacks in line with calorie specifications outlined in the calorie chart
  • To work with the Catering Manager to plan a well-balanced, healthy and fresh menu.
  • To support the process of placing food orders and assist in the management of deliveries and rotating of stock.
    • To be successful in this role, youll need
  • NVQ3 or equivalent or Qualified by Experience in Catering together with a Level 3 qualification in food hygiene.
  • Experience of working within a professional kitchen environment and have the ability to work independently.
