Job Description

School Caretaker / Site Keeper / Groundskeeper who has good practical skills with the ability to carry out minor building maintenance and repair work and keep the grounds clean and tidy is required for a fast-growing Multi Academy Trust.SALARY: £17,981 per annumLOCATION: Exeter, Devon, South West EnglandJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentWORKING HOURS: 40 Hours per WeekPLEASE NOTE: This position does not include onsite accommodationAPPLICATION PROCESS:Candidates will be required to complete an application form which we will email over separately once youve applied via this job board. Please keep an eye out for our emails.JOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for aSchool Caretaker / Site Keeper / Groundskeeperwho has good practical skills with the ability to carry out minor building maintenance and repair work and keep the grounds clean and tidy.Working as the School Caretaker / Site Keeper / Groundskeeper youll be able to turn your hand to most things, good at solving problems, able to use your own initiative, have good people skills, have high standards for health and safety and a clean and organisedenvironment.As the School Caretaker / Site Keeper / Groundskeeper youll also be a can-do person who is reliable, hardworking, patient, well organised, self-motivated, takes pride in their work, and has a sense of humourYour duties as the School Caretaker / Site Keeper / Groundskeeper will include:

  • General school maintenance for buildings and surrounding grounds - basic handy person skills are a must
  • Checking the conditions of the buildings and playgrounds and reporting any faults
  • Conducting fire safety and H&S checks for the site
  • Check the heating is operating and that timers are set correctly and working
  • Event set up and take down
  • To support and assist the school to conduct specific / ad hoc caretaking tasks when required, or as part of duty schedule such as winter checks, planned maintenance and daily and weekly checks
  • Assist the cleaning team and order consumables as and when required
  • Opening and closing of the school - enduring building is secure at all times
  • Being the onsite contact for contractors
  • Adhering to Safeguarding procedures that the school follow
  • Organising /prioritising tasks to ensure the safety of all staff and children is maintained
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Good level of experience carrying out minor repairs and building maintenance tasks
  • Ability to work independently and lead, in addition to organising and prioritising your own tasks
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and respond to the unexpected
  • Basic ICT / Computer skills
  • Is pro-active and team orientated
