Job Description

The starting salary for this permanent, full-time position is £31,262 per annum based on a 36-hour working week. We are excited to be recruiting a new Maintenance Engineer, a role that plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of equipment in schools and colleges across the county.Why join us

About the RoleAs a Maintenance Engineer, your typical day will involve working on a variety of design technology machinery, including traditional woodwork and metalwork machines, as well as pottery kilns.Your mission is to keep the equipment running smoothly and safely in accordance with the latest BS regulations for educational settings. This is a hands-on role where youll be responsible for fault-finding, inspections, repairs and the installation ofreplacement parts. Youll also conduct tests to record dust and noise levels, creating detailed job sheets to document your work, recommendations and any compliance issues.As part of the application process you will be asked to submit a CV and answer the following questions:
  1. Please confirm you have achieved your Health and Safety Certificate Level 1 and a recognised electrical or engineering qualification.
  2. What are your motivations for applying for this role
  3. Please describe your experience in a maintenance engineering environment with exposure to carpentry and metalwork
  4. Can you provide an example of a time at which you have had to solve a complex problem
In order to be considered for shortlisting, your answers to the above questions will clearly evidence:
  • A Health and Safety Certificate Level 1
  • A recognised electrical or engineering qualification
  • Experience in a maintenance engineering environment with exposure to carpentry and metalwork
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
