Job Description

Hours – 0.8 wte, 30 hours per weekBased at Mid Community Mental Health Team, Epsom.An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Lead Occupational Therapist to come and be part of a forward thinking occupational therapy service. You will be part of a leadership team who are committed to leading and developing innovative ways of ensuring the occupational needs of people who use our services are a key component of high quality service delivery.Our services for older people, with dementia as well as severe and enduring mental health problems, provide high quality care within acute in-patient settings and community mental health teams. We use the Model of Human Occupation to guide all our OT assessments and interventions.The OT Leadership team is committed to an extensive, coordinated CPD programme including supervision, care group, Trust wideand core competence training, and annual conferences. Our CPDhas been focused on embedding occupational and neuroscience into practice, along with developing brave and courageous leaders at every level. All staff are valued for their expertise in occupationally focused interventions and specialist group therapy.This post includes providing highly specialist occupational therapy interventions (group and individual) 2 ½ days per week at Mid CMHT, with the remaining time for leadership of the occupational therapy service across Mid and East Surrey. You will need:

  1. Experience of and specialist skills working with diverse mental health diagnoses in older people
  2. Experience of supporting the evaluation of service delivery
  3. Experience of providing supervision
  4. Experience in developing and delivering training
  5. The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team whilst maintaining an occupational focus
  6. The ability to work flexibly and independently
  7. Excellent communication skills
  8. Enthusiasm, imagination and initiative
