We are keen to recruit an experienced Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse to provide specialist input to the Care Home Pathway within Mid Surrey CMHTOP. This is an exciting opportunity to join a Trust-wide Care Home Pathway service that has been shortlisted for the Royal College of Psychiatrists ‘Team of the Year’ award in 2019!You will be working alongside colleagues from a range of professional backgrounds (psychology, occupational therapy, psychiatry, nursing and support workers) to provide specialist advice and consultation to people living in care homes within the local area. This will include people with moderate-severe mental health difficulties who are showing behaviour that challenges themselves and/or others. While most clients will have a confirmed diagnosis of dementia, the role also offers the opportunity to work with people who have ‘functional’ mental health difficulties living in care homes. To succeed in this role, you will be supported by a range of specialist clinicians and there are opportunities for training, CPD and supervision in relation to the care home work. Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust also has well-organised profession-specific CPD fora, where you can participate in CPD and focus on developing your specialist skills. We are keen to meet individuals with a passion for learning new skills, particularly in the field of behaviour that challenges in dementia care. Skill development will be supported through training and supervision on Positive Behaviour Support and psychosocial approaches to supporting people showing distressed behaviour. The post will be based at The Meadows, West Park, Epsom but will involve travel across the Mid Surrey region (covers Leatherhead, Dorking, Oxshott, Cobham etc). The Care Home Pathway function sits within the wider Mid Surrey CMHTOP.Please note that it is an essential requirement of this post that you have a full, valid UK driving licence and personal access to a vehicle for work-related purposes. If you would like to know more about this exciting opportunity, please contact Louise Taylor (Mid Sector Manager).
