Job Description

Role: Assistant CaretakerLocation: Secondary School, Epsom, Surrey Salary: £23,951Hours: 40 hrs per week; 52 weeks a year; early and late shift patterns and weekend working on a rotational basisRequired: March 2020 Aston Education are looking for a Assistant Caretaker / Groundsman to support the Caretaker and the Estates Team at a ‘Good’ secondary school in Epsom in Surrey from March 2020.As an Assistant Caretaker you’ll undertake all grounds related activities to ensure that the school site is maintained to a high standard and to provide a professional impression to all visitors, parents, pupils and staff. In addition, as a member of the estates staff, you will undertake a range of duties concerned with the school premises and ancillary duties to support the operation of the school.The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a similar role, preferably in a school setting
  • Knowledge and experience of working with synthetic sports pitches/surfaces
  • A full understanding of field markings
  • Relevant qualification in turf management (NVQ or similar)
  • Spraying certificate, PA1 & PA6 Knapsack spraying and weed killing
  • Basic DIY/Practical skills and ability to use and maintain tools and basic light machinery
  • Ability to drive a tractor
  • Good ITC, verbal and written communication skills
