Job Description

We have an exciting new role for a highly motivated Positive Engagement Worker to join our Forensic Mental Health Services based in Enfield to develop and facilitate Service User participation and engagement. The Engagement Worker will support recovery related activities for Service users to engage with and promote recovery and independent living where appropriate.The aim of the service is to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to provide an intensive rehabilitative programme of activities and life skills to address boredom, self-isolation, low self-esteem, disengagement and to foster engagement with the therapeutic programme.As a successful Engagement Worker, you will have relevant experience of working with vulnerable people and/or those with multiple and complex needs in a safeguarding framework. You will be proactive in promoting the service, as well as building effective relationships with external partners, agencies and commissioners to achieve the desired outcomes of the service. Sensitive to the needs of others, you will work collaboratively within a team as you prepare, plan and deliver group activities and support our engagement and participation work.The Social Interest Group (SIG) is a leading UK based charity, providing bespoke person centred social and health care solutions. Utilising strength-based models of working, we specialise in rehabilitation and supporting people who have complex needs, empowering them to achieve their full potential. We deliver social and health care services through our subsidiary charities SIG Penrose, SIG Equinox and SIG Investments.Key Responsibilities:

  • To develop SIG Penrose services to support service users in contributing to the wider community
  • To facilitate and deliver activities to engage service users who historically do not engage
  • To develop and facilitate the Volunteer and Peer Mentoring support programme
  • To engage Recovery Workers/ Positive Engagement Workers to communicate the importance of service user involvement and the benefits it holds
  • To develop genuine Service User led services across all services using a psychologically informed environment (PIE) model Penrose
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively with external partners, agencies and commissioners to achieve the desired outcomes of the service providing safer more integrated communities for all stakeholders
  • Experience Required:
  • NVQ / Diploma level 3 in Health & Social Care / Community Justice or professional equivalent
  • Experience of working with offenders who may have mental health issues / substance misuse / challenging chaotic behaviours
  • On the job experience of drafting and agreeing support plans and providing appropriate interventions for service user and liaising with other professional to bring the plans to fruition
  • Understanding and practical knowledge interventions of the social and societal marginalisation can be attached to people with mental health issues and complex needs
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral with both internally and externally with outside agencies and bodies
  • Sensitive to both clients and staff needs
  • Able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with the clients and supporting professional bodies
