Job Description

About The RoleTo support the Hospital with regards to Funding restrictions with the NHS, and ensure compliance to policies before patients are able to be booked for surgery. To manage funding criteria and applications for all patients who require funding prior to treatment.Scope of roleTo provide a professional and patient focused administration role, supporting the clinical and administrative teams within the treatment centre and managing all funding applications and criteria based access for Emersons Green and Devizes patients.Managerial Tasks

  • To prioritise own day to day workload.
  • To work without direct supervision
  • To provide a point of contact for patients, consultants and GPs.
  • To organise and manage an accurate filing system for patient notes.
  • To ensure that medical records are scanned to the clinical system according to current time standards.
  • Be responsible for the management of referrals where a clinical policy applies and funding is required prior to treatment.
  • Set up robust processes for the management of all funding applications and the management of the referrals.
  • Audit adherence to the clinical policies and work with the CCGs to provide evidence of this.
  • Communicate effectively with the clinical teams and medical consultants to ensure appropriate clinical information is available for funding criteria.
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with Referrers, CCGs, Consultants, Patient Booking Teams and other internal/external stakeholders.
  • Liaise and communicate with patients and referrers to ensure they are kept informed and expectations are met.
  • Ensure that funding is applied for in a timely manner as not to risk any delay in the patient pathway.
  • Be willing to work one day a week in our Devizes centre if required.
About The CandidateEssential:
  • Experience/knowledge that supports the understanding of clinical terms, anatomy and physiology procedures (both invasive and non invasive)
  • Substantial Administrative experience
  • Experienced team worker
  • Experience of dealing with the public
  • Knowledge and experience of the NHS funding guidelines
  • Ability to work methodically
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of funding policies in place across local commissioning groups
  • Previous medical records experience
