Job Description

About the roleWere looking for a driven and experienced Lead Electrical Fitter to join the team. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who thrives on leading by example and a challenge as youll be the first point of call for onsite issues and integral to buildingand maintaining the team to an excellent standard while bridging them to our engineering design team who are based off site. The ideal candidate is organised, able to pull from their knowledge and experience as well as capable and willing to think outsidethe box and try new things. Your active and hands on as most of the team youll be working side by side with the other fitters while managing tasks and leading on projects. You will work closely with our Design Engineering Team, Operations Team as well asreporting to, and working closely with, the director.What youll doElectrical Duties

  • Installing and modifying new electrical systems - machine wiring in an industrial setting
  • Fault finding and repairing current electrical systems (control panels, electric motors)
  • Using blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturers installation manuals to complete projects
  • Ensuring that electrical systems adhere to the national electrical safety standards and regulations - 18th edition preferable but will work with the right candidate who has experience and knowledge and wishes to aspire for the 18th edition.
Mechanical Duties
  • Completing both preventative and reactive maintenance on machinery such as extraction systems, granulators and shredders, conveyors
  • Fabricating and assembling frameworks, platforms, machinery upgrades (stick welding)
  • Ability to understand mechanical drawings and assist Design Engineers
General Duties
  • Maintaining daily and weekly records to ensure all engineering activity is recorded
  • Maintaining tools and equipment
  • Working to current health and safety regulations and following company health and safety policies and safety practices
  • Ensuring work areas and clean and safe
  • Ensuring all relevant people are communicated with for work needed to be carried out
  • Carrying out pre work risk assessments and ensuring safety of others at all times
  • Lead by example displaying good working practices at all times
  • Communicate with management on improvements or initiatives
  • Supervise tasks and the team at all times
  • Be point of contact for issues out of hours
Just the basis
  • Supervising Site Fitter team
  • Occasional first line of contact for out of hours breakdowns
  • Based at Ellesmere Port site
  • 9 or 10 hour shift, 7am or 8am start - flexible to discussion
  • Monday to Friday, days only
  • Reporting to Engineering Manager
  • 23 days holiday
  • £15.50 - £20.00 per hour

Essential requirements
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering - hydraulic systems, rotating equipment, bearing, gearboxes and motors
  • Experience & Knowledge in electrical engineering - wiring and installation, fault finding, electricity distribution equipment, lighting fixtures and various control systems
  • Experience in preventive and reactive maintenance
  • Experience in recycling or manufacturing environment
  • Experience of supervision or team leadership
  • Knowledge and understanding of good health and safety practices
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Excellent skills in troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Excellent skills with communication
  • Excellent skills with organisation
  • Drive and determination
  • Strong manual dexterity and eye hand coordination
  • Proficient with IT and technology
Desirable requirements
  • Experience with diesel engines and yard vehicle repairs
  • Experience with Python programming
  • FLT license or experience - can be taught in-hour
  • iPAF license (cherry picker)
  • First aid qualification
  • Fire marshal qualification or experience
