Job Description

About the roleWere looking for a driven and experienced Design Engineer to help with the management, scaling and development of new and existing manufacturing equipment. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who thrives on a challenge as youll be pulling fromyour vast experience in designing and improving complex production/recycling systems. You will be integral to growth and expansion of the business, designing, planning and carrying out all engineering projects onsite to upgrade machine and improve overallefficiency.The ideal candidate is organised with project experience, proactive and logical and willing to think out side of the box and try new things. You will work closely with our Site Fitter team for implementation, Operations team to avoid negative impacts onproduction targets and suppliers and sub-contractors to execute any project or engineering tasks.What youll doDay to day

  • Support for all daily maintenance tasks to ensure the equipment is available for production
  • Work on projects to design, plan and carry out upgrade to machinery for operational efficiency
  • Working with suppliers and sub-contractors to execute project and engineering tasks
  • Advise line management on progress of priority projects and work
Responsibilities
  • Be hands on in designing & building tools and machines for tyre recycling infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing processes
  • Create technical and engineering reports
  • Work with Operations on creating risk assessment and SOPs for new machinery or upgrades
  • Lead engineering projects (scope, timeline, costs, stakeholder communication)
  • Research and source new equipment, components & materials
  • CAD modelling, simulation and preparation of assembly & technical drawings
  • Create and implement production-ready designs through external manufacturers or our in house workshop
  • Support in the maintenance of existing engineering and maintenance organisational systems

  • Integral part of the design and development part of the business
  • Based at Ellesmere Port site
  • 9 or 10 hour shift, 7am or 8am start - flexible to discussion
  • Monday to Friday, days only
  • Reporting to Engineering Manager
  • 23 days holiday
  • £30,000 - £40,000

Essential requirements
  • Degree or extensive (5+ years) experience in Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent
  • Experience with developing industrial manufacturing processes
  • Experience and expert knowledge with engineering software packages and CAD tools.
  • High proficiency in creating technical & assembly drawings
  • Great applied fabrication skills & mechanical materials knowledge
  • Analytical mindset and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving skills - open to invent and find unusual solutions to problems
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability, seeking the root cause of issue
  • Excellent communication skills - able to work with and support team members in different locations and from different backgrounds and disciplines.
  • Comfortable with paid innovation cycles and constant growth that comes with working in a start up - proactive and flexible to take on a new task or challenge.
  • Knowledge and understanding of good health and safety practices
  • Passion for sustainability and impact
  • Full driving license
Desirable requirements
  • Experience in recycling or manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of Low Voltage electrical supply and circuitry.
  • Experience of quality-control procedures & process improvement methodologies.
  • Coding and electronics experience (Raspberry Pi, Python).
  • Good working knowledge of high precision manufacturing with tight tolerancing
  • FLT license or experience - can be taught in-house
  • First aid qualification
