Job Description

Our client, a well established and reputable Civil Engineering Contractor with an annual turnover of £100 million, are looking to recruit a Surfacing Contract Manager with experience in highway and road resurfacing projects to join their civil engineeringteam on a permanent basis in Ellesmere Port. A recent run of successful project wins has resulted in them looking to expand and grow their existing team in order to deliver the additional workload.As the Contract Manager covering projects largely across North West England, you will play a pivotal role in the success of the company in the region. It will be key for you to not only maintain but grow the company’s presence in the areaand really drive business forward. Due to the seniority and responsibility of the role you will have proven experience of managing various Civil Engineering projects.As the Surfacing Contract Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Develop commercial opportunities of tender stage.
  • Preparing and submitting tenders.
  • Create and develop key client relationships.
  • Maintain and build existing client relationships.
  • Produce effective short- and long-term project programmes.
  • Create RAMS.
  • Produce monthly progress reports.
  • Material resourcing.
  • Manage labour and plant on site.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Monitor project performance, taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Conduct project close out and report findings.
  • Develop and implement the commercial strategy.
  • Support the timeous formulation and release of detailed management reports.
  • Monitor staff performance and liaise with management to maximise financial returns.
Background/experience required:
  • Educated to a degree or HNC level as a minimum in a civil engineering discipline.
  • Previous civil engineering management experience is essential.
  • Road surfacing experience is essential.
  • Appropriate knowledge of health and safety policies.
  • Methodical approach to tasks undertaken.
  • Awareness and understanding of contracting principles.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills.
  • Experience of building and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Competent with all forms of contract and standard methods of measurement.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driver’s license.
