Post Doctoral Research Associate in Theoretical PhysicsJob Type: 2 year Fixed Term Contract until 30/09/2024Location: EghamSalary: £37,467 to £44,289 per annum - including London AllowanceApplications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Theoretical Physics in the Physics Department at the University.This is a full-time post, available as soon as possible for a fixed term period until 30 September 2024. This post is based in Egham, Surrey where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distancefrom London.The RoleThis is a post to work on the quantum many body problem both via analytical calculations and numerical simulations. The post involves developing new tools relying on random matrix theory in order to understand strongly interacting and disordered quantumsystems from a dynamical and statistical point of view. The work is funded by a research grant from the Leverhulme Trust.The holder of the post will be expected to help produce independent and original research within the Universitys Physics Department, to submit publications to refereed journals, and to work together and supervise postgraduate and MSci students. In returnthey offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including generous annual leave and training and development opportunities.Role RequirementsThe successful applicant will have a PhD in theoretical physics with a strong component on numerical simulations, as well as prior experience in one of the following theoretical physics tools: (i) perturbation theory (ii) tensor networks (iii) random matrixtheory (iv) dynamical mean field theory (v) renormalization group theory or (vi) Density Functional Theory.
