Job Description

A well-known and highly regarded multi-disciplinary National Engineering Consultancy are looking to appoint an experienced Technical Manager (Building Structures) to join their business in Edinburgh city centre to work on a diverse range of projectsincluding hotel developments, visitor centres, educational/laboratory buildings, distilleries and more.The client is looking for a Chartered engineer with extensive experience to join their team. As a Technical Manager you will:

  • Act as Technical lead on projects large and small.
  • Assist Director in managing Building Structures team
  • Provide technical leadership and support to all members of the team
  • Structural engineering assessment and inspection of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
  • Undertake analysis and design using a range of software packages
  • Manage and review reports, designs and drawings completed by team to ensure consistent high quality and compliance with design standards, industry best practice, contractual obligations and client expectations
  • Manage the inputs from other in-house discipline teams and sub-consultants.
  • Liaison with clients, regulators and other stakeholders
  • Attendance at design meetings, site meetings and carry out site inspections.
  • Project management, team management and budgetary control.
The ideal candidate will be:
  • BSc in Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE)
  • SER Certifier status preferred but not essential
  • Excellent report writing, communication and numerical skills required
  • Experience of structural analysis design and software essential
