Job Purpose StatementThe Corporate Taxation team is based in the UK, as part of Columbia Threadneedle Investments (CTI) and is responsible for Corporation Tax, VAT and Tax Reporting across EMEA and APAC. As a result of the acquisition of the asset management arm of Bank of Montrealin November 2021 the Corporate Taxation team was created to support both the existing and newly acquired business. Role ResponsibilitiesHow youll spend your time...

  • Assisting with drafting of provisions for UK statutory accounts including draft tax computations, tax notes disclosures, group relief estimates and tax reconciliation.
  • Assisting with calculation of EMEA and APAC monthly tax provision and reconciliation of tax accounts.
  • Assisting with external auditor requests and inquiries.
  • Ensuring that information is obtained, and UK computations and returns are finalised for submission to HM Revenue & Customs prior to the filing deadline.
  • Management of relationships and workflow with both internal and external tax service providers.
  • Calculating the quarterly instalment payments for the UK group payment arrangement.
  • Working closely with Finance team to ensure relevant information for purpose of overseas tax computations is provided.
  • Tracking and managing EMEA and APAC group tax payments.
  • Providing support on Senior Accounting Officer reporting.
  • Tracking of external tax advisor fees.
  • Support the maintenance of EMEA and APAC risk and controls procedures.
  • Assisting in ad hoc tax queries as they arise in the business.
Key CapabilitiesTo be successful in this role you will have....
  • Ideally qualified accountant or tax professional (ACA/ACCA/CTA)
  • Part qualified may be considered depending on relevant experience
  • Knowledge of UK corporation tax compliance and accounting.
  • Confidence to communicate effectively and build relationships with colleagues, advisors, and auditors.
  • Self-motivated and pro-active with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to operate independently, work closely and proactively within the tax team and numerous functional teams across the organisation.
  • Excellent Excel skills are a must.
  • Use of Workday, OneSource, and Longview systems, if possible, though training will be provided if not.
