Job Description

Role title: Tableau DeveloperLocation: Edinburgh / Leeds / LondonAbout The RolesDue to a plan to significantly expand Data Analysis and Data Visualisations in the Organisation, were now recruiting for a Tableau Developer at a Senior Associate level.You will support the automation of data processes using programming tools including Prep, Python and R, help to analyse the results using Desktop and advise the large number of Creators and associated stakeholders on best practices in both visualisation anddata preparation. This is achieved through a variety of community engagement channels including intranet pages, a dedicated mailbox and monthly events which bring the community together which you will help drive forward. Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Delivering data management, quantitative and statistical analyses, and data visualisation
  • Support the management team to scope, define and prioritise projects across a wide breadth of activity including data solutions, data analysis and data visualisation projects
  • Develop data visualisation products (e.g. Dashboards) using tools such Tableau / Tableau Prep
  • Analysing FCA and external data, ensuring high quality and timely delivery of analysis
  • Engaging with stakeholders to build an understanding of their requirements and planning and delivering analysis
  • Enabling the FCA to get more value from our data, identifying new opportunities for analysis and insight generation
  • Developing and delivering community engagement activities that will support the business and continue the role of the team as a Centre of Excellence
  • Engaging with product owners to maintain good working relationships that are critical to our continued success

  • Data manipulation - ability to extract and transform raw data into formats that can be easily processed or analysed (by using tools such as SQL, Tableau Prep, R, Python).
  • Data visualisation skills - including the creation of charts and visualisations using software such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present analysis in a clear and compelling way.
  • Data Analysis: Practical data analysis and exploration experience - working with quantitative and qualitative data in order to produce analysis in a variety of formats, making it engaging to the audience. Able to identify and articulate what the data istelling us.
  • Excellent organisational skills - sets high standards for self and being disciplined about meeting commitments, delivering within agreed timeframes.
Essential
  • Experience of quantitative analytical work - with the ability to analyse large data sets, and present findings in a manner which non-technical audiences can understand. Ability to understand the limitations of data sets.
  • Data preparation skills - including significant experience of tools such as Tableau Prep, Alteryx or equivalent (including code)
  • SQL - strong and demonstrable working knowledge of SQL
  • Attention to detail - can demonstrate taking pride in work and ensuring it is of the highest standard.
  • Team worker - able to work actively with others to achieve outcomes in both formal and informal teams.
  • Good organisational ability - sets high standards for self and being disciplined about meeting commitments, delivering within agreed timeframes.

Desirable
  • Good understanding of the financial services sector, market practices, the FCAs approach to regulation and how these could affect consumers.
  • Ability to make statistical inferences from the data and understand underlying patterns and trends.
  • Experience of building out and driving forward a Centre of Excellence function
  • Working knowledge of the Tableau repository and / or tracking database usage and /or detailed knowledge of performance improvement techniques
  • Knowledge of developing documentation in a web environment
Useful InformationThis role is a Senior Associate Tableau Developer. This role can be based in London, Edinburgh or Leeds.The FCA has London and National Pay ranges to reflect regional differences.The salary for this role will be:London - £50,000 - £80,000 + Benefits packageNational (roles in Edinburgh/Leeds/Cardiff/Belfast) - 47,000 - £72,000 + Benefits package. This Position falls within the Regulatory Job Family.The FCA is currently trialling a new hybrid way of working, requiring colleagues to spend 40% of their time in the office each month until the end of July. This trial period will allow us to identify the most appropriate balance of hybrid working, enablingus to benefit from the best of both working in an office environment and remotely.
