Job Description

Enigma People Solutions is excited to have been engaged by a world leading international Semiconductor Design client to search for a talented Systems Architect to join our client’s state-of-the-art Edinburgh office. You will be responsible for defining integrated circuits (IC) and solutions for consumer products by translating the customer’s needs into the detailed design and test specifications used to guide design of the IC/solution. This position plays a fundamental role our client’s Mixed-Signal business where it is highly valued and highly visible with plenty of scope for development.Specializing in low power ICs for audio and voice signal processing applications, our client’s products span the entire audio signal chain, from capture to playback, providing innovative products for the world’s top smartphones, tablets, digital headsets, wearables and emerging smart home applications.This is a great opportunity to work with gifted engineers operating at the forefront of bleeding-edge technology!   • Collaborate with Tier 1 customers and internal engineering teams to define system and performance requirements, feature set, and architecture definition for complex IC designs which may be composed of integrated sub-blocks such as ADCs, DACs, microphone interfaces, audio/haptic amplifiers, general-purpose monitors, DC-DC converters, charge pumps, Digital Signal Processing (DSP), analogue and digital filtering, clocking, analogue and digital interfaces, device-to-device communications, microcontrollers, computational accelerators, embedded firmware, and signal processing algorithms
  • Consider all product requirements such as customers requirements, host system requirements, hardware/software design split and trade-offs, algorithm requirements, digital/analogue process technologies, packaging options, design/system constraints, and propose viable solutions
  • Communicate ideas and specifications to internal and external technical audiences
  • Lead solution architecture across multiple technical domains and engineering teams, negotiating specification and architecture trade-offs between domains
  • Author, review, and update system and design specifications
  • Participate in architecture reviews, IC-level design reviews, algorithm and software design reviews and board-level design reviews with design engineering, applications, validation and product test engineers
  • Perform thorough competitive analysis including lab investigations
  • Participate in industry conferences and forums to ensure device compatibility with adopted standards
  • Travel domestically and internationally approximately 4 - 8 weeks per year to work with customers and internal teams
  • Autonomously manage contending customer and project-related priorities
  • Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) with a proven and demonstrable background in electronic system design
  • Experience in a customer facing engineering role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrably strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent cognitive abilities combined with a logical, systems approach to problem solving
  • Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in architecting, specifying, and designing low power, mixed-signal ICs and solutions
  • Silicon design experience
  • Embedded firmware and algorithm design experience
  • Background in audio processing for portable electronic products such as smartphones, tablets, wireless headsets, music/video players etc.
  • Background in audio/haptic amplifiers and power management
  • Experience with product integration into the Android eco-system
  • Hands-on experience of audio/acoustic/power measurement and analysis
