Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Support Worker for an initial 9 week contract with potential to extend on a rate of £12.68 – £14.49/hour PAYE. The working hours are 10 hours perweek – days per week and hours per day are flexible. This role will be based onsite.Responsibilities:- To support in organising time and prioritising tasks including managing of Calendar and booking rooms.- To provide support with processing and organising emails for efficient and effective communication.- To act as a reader and scribe, reading text and writing clearly and legibly in response to dictation from the academic.- Updating and uploading information in different platforms (e.g. SharePoint, Teams, website, research profiles) on behalf of the academic.- Providing administrative support for academic work on race studies and decolonial studies, including inserting tables and charts in documents, proofreading and cleaning up formatting, photocopying, cataloguing and organising information such as books,documents, and materials to enable easy access and consultation.Essential Skills:- Experience of working in an administrative, personal assistant, or other responsive or supportive role.- Strong IT skills in MS Office and the ability to create graphs, charts and tables within documents.- Ability to work co-operatively and effectively.- Well-developed organisational, time management and task prioritisation skills- Demonstrable attention to detail and ability to check own work for accuracy.- Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, sufficient to providing support as a reader and scribe.- Ability to deal with sensitive material confidentially and discreetly, abiding by data protection regulations.Desirable Skills:- Knowledge of data analysis packages e.g. SPSS and NVivo- An understanding ofrace, racialisation and decoloniality and ability to work with academic materials related to sensitive topics involving systemic oppressions, violence and social injusticeIf you would like to hear more about this opportunity please get in touch.Indeedpublicsector
