Job Description

Senior Software EngineerAcross Central Belt (Covid remote)FPSG have an excellent opportunity for a senior software engineer, combining; architecture, design, development and leadership for multiple projects.Working on a diverse range of projects, from website backend enhancement, to bespoke digital applications, from the maintenance of existing services, to the development of future technical solutions to support business needs. The role will be back end focused, although with scope, open to full stack applicants.This is a critical time of cross-service redevelopment and as the company is also transitioning to a DevOps model, Cloud enablement and embracing further Agile practices, then the Senior Engineer role will be critical to technical direction and contributing to the tools, utilities and practices deployed as well as offering potential for up-skilling.As a Senior Software Engineer your responsibilities will include:

  • Writing and maintaining high quality code
  • Contributing to various project and product roadmaps
  • Contributing to future product vision and architecture
  • Following software best practise and processes
  • Delivering innovative solutions across the solutions life cycle
  • Continually enhancing and building a deep knowledge of the product suite
  • Selecting, using and improving a broad modern technology stack
    • To be successful in the Senior Software Engineer post, your experience will include:
  • Current development experience in Java websites and web applications
  • Experience working with, RESTful services, JSON and XML
  • A working knowledge of Spring Boot
  • Knowledge of software design patterns in Java
  • Experience in leading design and architectural through SOLID processes
  • Exposure to DevOps (Gitflow, Docker, etc)
  • Exposure to testing best practice (JUnit, JMeter etc)
  • Knowledge of SQL, MySQL, MongoDB
  • In-depth experience with JavaScript, JQuery
  • Hands on experience of various Agile development approaches
