RPS is looking for an experienced senior consultant/engineer to join the Transport and Engineering Team in Edinburgh, part of our UK Planning Consultancy Division. Our team of transport specialists have a track record of supporting developments and helping to deliver transport and infrastructure solutions that promote sustainability, improved connectivity and healthy lifestyles.Your roleYou will be working as part of a small team of experts, providing transport planning/engineering design consultancy advice to our clients. Through effective delivery of projects, you will contribute to the success of team and ensure the development of key client relationships, helping to extend RPS’s local presence and breadth of services while liaising with other parts of the business on multi-disciplinary projects. Success in this role will see you take increased responsibility for other team members and you’ll have the opportunity to act as Project Manager on selected projects where you will able to contribute positively, including through financial management.Your skills and experienceWe’d like you to have a relevant degree along with a demonstrable commitment to professional development in working towards a professional qualification (ICE or CIHT or equivalent) and a background of working in professional services/consultancy. You’ll be able to display a good level of technical knowledge in junction assessments (Junctions 9, LINSIG), accessibility analysis and the application of modelling principles. You will be a creative and strategic thinker and be able to offer your suggestions and design advice on the formulation of our client’s masterplans and projects. Experience of attending public consultations would be desirable.We’d like you to have a track record of taking ownership of and achieving outcomes for clients, business, teams and self, have great market knowledge and be able to support the team in securing sustainable and commercially viable projects through the development of relationships and bidding activities.Good financial and project management skills are desirable but not essential, as are great influencing and communication skills that enable you to work as part of a team within what will be a fast-paced environment where you will have an opportunity to challenge the status quote and be challenged in return.Experience in AutoCAD and or relevant design software would be beneficial in being able to fulfil the requirement of this role, or at the very least a willingness to commit to developing such skills.What we offer youWe will provide you with a flexible, friendly and creative environment to develop your skills and challenge yourself.
