Job Description

Organisation:This leading organisation who are a well-known brand internationally, require an IT security Analyst to join their expanding IT & Digital global team, and be based in Edinburgh on a permanent basis.About the role:This organisation is undergoing substantial change and IT security is no exception. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to steer our strategic objectives in relation to security and make a real impact.You will need exceptional communication skills, appropriate to both expert and non-expert IT colleagues, along with a strong problem-solving capability.You must have the ability to work to deadlines in a fast paced, busy environment, sometimes including escalated out of hours security calls as part of our on call agreement.In exchange were offering the chance to significantly influence the security strategy, access to the full range of IT technologies at our disposal and to work as part of a truly global team.You will form strong internal relationships with key stakeholders, and make recommendations on future upgrades, and security alerts. A SOC background is preferred, but you must be heavily involved in incident response. Moreover, progression into a more hands-on security engineering position is vital for this role. The position would ideally suit somebody who has had exposure across a wide range of various security functions as opposed to being pigeon-holed into one key area.You will report to the Head of Infrastructure and you have responsibility in the following areas:

  • Administration/deployment of security and related data protection IT solutions
  • Monitoring, alert management and escalation for security solutions
  • Standardisation of base line builds, configurations, etc. to improve security
  • Developing security focussed procurement standards
  • Patch management processes and stakeholder co-ordination
  • Investigation of security breaches and other cyber security incidents, including documentation of the outcomes
  • Assisting with the delivery of subject access requests
  • Developing knowledgebase materials to assist the IT team and end users on security related matters
  • Working with external providers for penetration testing, vulnerability detection and forensic activities
  • Implementing gap closing activities for known security vulnerabilities and external audit points
  • Keeping the IT Leadership Team informed of the latest security/data protection developments and how they can benefit this organisation
  • Developing metrics/KPIs to gain insight into the security landscape and prioritise activities to improve
  • Implementing an end-user security training program
  • Steering the pathway towards formal security certifications for this organisation
  • What do you need to have
  • Significant Demonstrable experience as a senior security analyst or equivalent role.
  • High level knowledge and understanding of the internal and external cyber security risks to IT systems, services and data storage.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading cyber security technologies such as security monitoring, vulnerability detection, privilege access management, penetration testing, sandboxing etc.
  • Have a relevant certification e.g. CISSP, CISM, CSSLP or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 27001
  • Ability to adapt and flex within an ever-changing environment.
  • This role is suited to a very pro-active individual who has a passion for IT security outside of the workplace. Attending events and keeping yourself up to date with the latest technologies will be very beneficial, particularly as the client is very keen to invest heavily in you, as the successful candidate.
