This post offers an excellent opportunity to further your career within the beautiful, vibrant city of Edinburgh.We strive to provide high quality, safe, effective and person-centred healthcare, continually improving clinical outcomes for patients who use our services and for our population as a whole, through the application of NHS Lothian’s core values of values of quality, teamwork, care & compassion, dignity & respect, and openness, honesty and responsibility.In response to the rapid growth in X-ray tomographic imaging, we are seeking to recruit an experienced, motivated diagnostic radiology physicist, who will provide Medical Physics Expert advice to NHS Lothian for X-ray imaging systems including highly complex and high radiation dose techniques. The post holder will have lead responsibility for CT physics support, acting as CT scientific lead to Edinburgh Imaging’s QMRI research facility. You will advise on image optimisation, set-up of research trials and screening programmes involving CT, equipment procurement, and provide teaching and training.You will work within a team of 9 physicists and 2 specialist technologists. The team delivers medical physics services across NHS Lothian and NHS Fife. The current equipment install base currently includes multidetector row CT scanners (20), interventional angiography suites (9), fluoroscopy (8), mammography (5, three with tomosynthesis capability), and digital radiography rooms (34).You will hold as a minimum an honours degree or equivalent qualification in a physical science or an appropriate engineering discipline (e.g. electrical or electronic engineering). Corporate membership of IPEM and registration as a Clinical Scientist (Medical Physics) with the Health and Care Professions Council are essential. You should have sufficient post-qualification experience (including CT) to act as a medical physics expert. Computing skills are required and experience of testing a range of X-ray imaging equipment.You must be able to demonstrate initiative, written and verbal communication skills as well as tact, diplomacy, leadership, organisational and scientific skills. You must have the ability to work well as part of a team. The post requires travel across Lothian and Fife.
