The post holder will also lead on the introduction of advanced imaging techniques into routine clinical use, ensuring their safe and effective implementation, including intraoperative MRI, pre-surgical fMRI and paediatric brain spectroscopy.NHS Lothian and NHS Fife currently have an install base of 10 MRI scanners, including three 3T scanners installed in state-of-the-art new facilities in the new Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Royal Hospital for Children and Young People. This post offers an opportunity for you to use your skills and vision to help develop and optimise the MRI service.You will hold as a minimum an honours degree or equivalent qualification in a physical science or an appropriate engineering discipline (e.g. electrical or electronic engineering). Corporate membership of IPEM and registration as a Clinical Scientist (Medical Physics) with the Health and Care Professions Council are essential. You should have sufficient post-qualification experience to act as a MR Safety Expert.You must be able to demonstrate initiative, written and verbal communication skills as well as tact, diplomacy, leadership, organisational and scientific skills. You must have the ability to work well as part of multidisciplinary teams. The post requires travel across Lothian and Fife.
