  • Lead the technical delivery of projects and management of junior members of the team regionally and across virtual teams.
  • Develop business development activities and initiatives and pursue opportunities that raise the regional and company profile.
  • Act as Account Manager for key clients and maximise opportunities for new business through marketing and client relationships.
  • Support the identification and securing of new works, leading the preparation of commercial bids, open tenders and proposals
  • Support Client and stakeholder engagement / supply chain interface
  • Lead the management and delivery of projects, create and maintain project programmes to ensure time and budget compliance.
  • Manage and control project budgets provide accurate financial reporting and overall quality control
  • Actively plan and manage project resources to provide effective and efficient delivery and manage personal professional development and the development of others
  • Working across organisational boundaries, deliver projects effectively and support other Project Centre employees with technical advice on built environment projects.
  • Effective liaison and or consultation with statutory authorities or undertakers as necessary to enable design and construction.
  • Effective team and one to one management of direct reports (including undertaking performance reviews) and be managerial and technical lead on multiple projects.
  • Be accountable for the quality of all team outputs and deliverables, taking appropriate action to rectify quality issues and manage performance of team members.
  • Assist in the recruitment and development of skilled staff resources to meet customer expectations and business growth plans.
  • Contribute to the implementation of company initiatives and attend and contribute towards regular service management meetings.
Our ideal candidate will have but not be limited to:
  • Accredited degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and Masters is beneficial.
  • Chartered or actively working towards Chartered status (ICE, CIHT or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of contract procurement, budgeting and NEC Project Management Accreditation or equivalent
  • Demonstrable engineering experience working within local authority and or private sector.
  • In depth understanding of highway, parking and traffic and transport-oriented design and design standards within urban, rural, public realm, and the civil engineering-built environment
  • Experience of Industry standards, codes and regulations, including: DMRB, Conditions of Contract, MCHW, CDM, Health and Safety and Industry Best Practice
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of developing feasibility, and preliminary designs to solve parking and local roads problems including Alignment, Drainage, Pavement, Road Restraint System, Traffic Restrictions, Road Signs & Markings.
  • Experience in the design of walking & cycling schemes, traffic calming, Healthy Streets, junction design, carriageway renewal and parking solutions.
  • Working knowledge of Civils 3D for highway design, MS Project, AutoCAD and industry standard software.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to communicate technical, financial and project matters at all levels with suppliers, clients, contractors, the public and other engineers within PCL
  • Ability to lead projects, teams and support junior members such as CAD Technicians & Engineering Graduates.
  • Ability to determine appropriate solutions, innovate and add value
  • Proven ability to produce highways and traffic related design deliverables including IFT and IFC documents and drawings, and provide technical checks prior to issue
