Job Description

Were currently recruiting for our public sector client in Dundee. They are looking for a Moodle Developer to work in their Software Development team within the IT Services Department. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a University.This role can be performed on a remote basis with occasional site visit required.Salary; £34k - £41k The role holder will be expected to develop and support the Moodle learning management system and related software applications using contemporary techniques. They will provide application support for the Moodle learning management ecosystem and deliver productimprovements where it is deemed necessary.Other duties include;

  • Developing the Moodle platform for various ongoing initiatives, based on organisational requirements assessed in consultation with professional services and academic staff
  • Assisting in the design of the Moodle platform to meet organisational style and design requirements and templates and ensuring compliance with relevant accessibility legislation
  • Provide guidance notes on Moodle set-up and ongoing operations and produce regular and ad-hoc reports.
  • Provide Applications integration and development advice to Moodle projects as well as software procurement with respect to specification and capacity planning
  • Act as the technical lead for specific Moodle developments and provide technical consultancy for Moodle-related projects, both in the functional definition of the product, and in the specification of the requirements
  • Leading reviews of others designs
  • Ensure code is written, configured, versioned, managed and documented to agreed standards, and implement appropriate frameworks for testing software
Skills & Experiences Required;
  • Previous Moodle experience is essential
  • Experience in designing system components and modules using appropriate modelling techniques, following agreed software design standards, patterns, and methodology
  • Experience in recommending designs which take into account target environment, performance, security requirements, accessibility and existing systems
  • Leading reviews of others designs
  • Experience in providing second and third line support as required
