Job Description

Work with a Charity for a Menatl Health Support ProjectClient Group

  • Undocumented Migrant, Refugee, Asylum Seeker struggling with depression, Personal development, Post-traumatic stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues
Key Responsibilities
  • As a mental Health Counsellor your responsibilities include developing treatment plans, facilitating interventions and overseeing the overall mental health wellbeing of the client. Ultimately, you will work directly with client to help them overcome depression,Personal development, Post-traumatic stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues and lead a healthier life.
  • Teach users self-help techniques (such as relax and reduce stress, connect with others, stop negative thoughts - focus on positivity) to improve and maintain mental well-being that participants can use in their own time.
  • Liaison with project coordinator and Inform referrer about outcome of intervention at the end of counselling where applicable.
  • Training volunteers on befriending and mental health awareness
Rate & Hours
  • £18 p/h for counselling session - 430 hours (12 months)
  • £18 p/h for volunteer training: 45 hours
Delivery Method
  • Face to Face work
  • Telephone and zoom counselling
Reports to:
  • Dedicated project coordinator
Requirements
  • Integrative, Person centred therapy
  • As a Therapist/Counsellor you will be accredited and hold a registration with a relevant professional body (e.g. British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy - BACP)
  • To be digitally competent to maintain client records appropriately
  • Qualification - Bachelor in Mental Health Counselling or equivalent preferred
  • Must be bilingual
  • Must have at least 1-year previous experience working with the target client group
  • Excellent observation and listening skills
  • A broad-minded, non-judgemental attitude and a respect for others
  • An ability to establish rapport with people from migrant backgrounds and to gain their trust
  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and also an awareness of its limitations
  • A belief in peoples inherent ability to change and develop
  • A sense of humour and an energetic and positive approach
  • An understanding of equality and diversity issues.
