Were the team that looks after the Scottish Widows Mobile Appour nativeiOS and Android application that allows customers to view and engage with their pension.Our lab also looks after Single Customer View (SCV) which is the view on Internet Banking that allows current account customers to see and transact with other products within the group. So for example if a customer logs in to their BoS Internet Bankingapp and has a Halifax Share Dealing account, theyll see their balance and can SSO in to their account. We provide similar capability to Motor Insurance, Home Insurance and others.Our 2023 pipeline includes several exciting new initiatives that will provide digital capability to IP&I and beyond, including Digital Inbox and enhancements to SCV and SW App.About youWere looking for a Lead Engineer to work alongside a team Product Owner, leading one of our 5 feature teams. Youll directly to the lab Engineering Lead and as a part of the leadership team will have the opportunity to get involved and contribute to therunning of the lab, the platform and IP&I.We put people first and strong, empathetic leadership skills are essential.Generally, youre comfortable in a technical leadership role, blending both solid leadership experience and technical expertise, particularly in the mobile space.Were looking for an outstanding collaborator that can drive strategy and key initiatives forward, while being an advocate for excellence, culture, and sustainability.Youll support the growth of and mentor junior colleagues, while helping shape the culture of the team and the direction of the lab.More specifically wed like you to have much of the following, but its ok if you dont check every box:

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills with ability to communicate and engage with non-technical and senior stakeholders
  • Hands on Software Engineering background with experience in building large scale mobile applications for iOS or Android, using a fairly broad set of tools, techniques, and platforms, including cloud hosting.
  • Experience working with REST APIs, JSON, Microservices
  • Good understanding of architecture and cloud native principles
  • Experience working with container environments in particular Docker, Kubernetes and Helm (e.g. GCP, Azure, AWS), ideally GCP.
  • Awareness of security considerations and security tools used to integrate with the build pipeline covering OWASP top 10
  • Passionate about driving a modern and inclusive culture
  • Some experience in Operations and support, ideally following SRE principles
  • Able to listen, reflect and respect the views of others as well as being able to communicate your own opinion but youre not strongly tied to it
  • A growth mindset, who encourages, mentors and motivates the teams around you
  • Ability to contribute to defining objectives to continuously improve and measure metrics
