Job Description

OverviewRef: 64160Laboratory TechnicianAn exciting opportunity to join a growing team within an excellent organisation.If you have experience in a diverse range of molecular biology techniques then read on!Role ResponsibilitiesYou will be involved in the following:

  • Maintenance of mammalian cells lines,
  • Exposure of cells with various materials: chemicals, particles, fibres.
  • Performing various assays for cell stress (e.g. testing for secreted proteins or gene expression, and oxidative stress)
  • Assisting in the development of test methods on an Ad-hoc basis
  • Interpretation and communication of data and findings
  • Person SpecificationEssential Experience:
  • Degree in scientific discipline
  • Experienced in culturing mammalian cells and working under aseptic conditions
  • Background in performing cellular and molecular biology techniques, e.g. RT-qPCR, ELISA, proliferation/cytotoxicity studies, markers of oxidative stress, reactive oxygen species generation, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy and Western Blotting
  • Ability to prepare reagents and media for laboratory processes
  • Desirable Experience:
  • Experience of testing materials (e.g. particles and fibres) with mammalian cells and understanding cell - particle interface
  • Experience with in vitro systems specifically relating to dermal exposure and inhalation exposure
  • Experience of working on multidisciplinary projects
