About the Role As a Banking Technical Lead, you will exemplify the BJSS values, inspire engineers to follow you and deliver successful outcomes for clients. You will be a SME for banking technology, working directly with client stakeholders and other senior team members,contributing to discussions on multiple facets of your project, such as functional requirements, technical strategy, solution architecture, and delivery. You will also sometimes assist with pre-sales activities and support client proposals.As a talented hands-on engineer who leads from the front, you will provide leadership, guidance, and support to the developers on your team and ensure the team functions well, with effective collaboration and high-quality output. You will lead by exampleand inspire them to embrace new challenges, gain new skills, and to deliver great software for the client.You will work predominantly on banking projects but may also be asked to work within other Financial Services sectors or BJSS Industry verticals. We are looking for someone with:

• Experience leading a team of developers within a banking environment.
• Extensive experience working within banking technology, either in industry or with a consultancy.
• Good understanding of banking as a business domain including major business areas and processes (for example accounts, savings, mortgages, payments, operations, open banking etc).
• Strong design and delivery experience with modern banking architectures and technologies such as web architecture, event-driven architecture, real-time messaging, cloud, microservices, Kubernetes.
• Understanding and ideally experience with legacy banking architectures and systems.
• Strong experience of Cloud computing - AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Excellent knowledge of Java (up to at least JDK 11), plus related tools and technologies and open-source libraries such as Spring, Hibernate
• Hands-on experience with DevOps tools and practices.
• Solid understanding of the fundamentals of computing (e.g. logic, data structures, algorithms, low-level architecture, systems infrastructure, network stack).
