Job Description

Head of DevOps (On Prem) - Edinburgh (Hybrid) - To 110K plus 30% BonusLoriens client, a great and growing firm in the FinTech domain, operating in the worlds largest financial market, is looking to recruit a Head of DevOps (On Prem) to bolster their function, lead from the front, and enable the team to continue to developproducts and services for a key global-reaching platform and client base.Theyre looking for a someone with strong technical expertise to operate in a very much hands-on capacity, and put their knowledge and skills across Linux/Unix, DevOps, Virtualisation, Automation, and more to good use as they tackle a number of key projects- with some exciting ones already in the pipeline as we speak.This person will also share knowledge with, and guide (but not line manage), junior personnel in a small but growing team looking for a great technical figurehead to improve the function as they go.In return for your efforts, our clients offering a substantial package of up to around 110K plus bonuses of up to 30% for the right person, so take a look at the following, and let us know if this looks to be a good match for you before its snapped up:Duties involved:

  • Administering, architecting, and re-architecting all on-prem Platforms (Redhat and VMWare)
  • Automating wherever possible using DevOps and coding tooling/approaches
  • Ensuring troubleshooting, deployments, monitoring and config management all runs smoothly
  • Successfully delivering key projects in the DevOps/Platforms arena
  • Leading the team in a hands-on technical capacity, improving both the team and products simultaneously and guiding less senior members
  • Liaising with representatives and stakeholders at all levels to ensure everyones kept in the loop as you and the team go
Knowledge and skills required:
  • Expert Unix knowledge and considerable track record in the automated deployment of Linux servers
  • Skills across Coding, Scripting, Automation and Platform Config Management with tooling such as Ansible / Python / Puppet / Terraform / similar
  • Solid general knowledge of related areas and technologies: RedHat, Public key infrastructure/Secure Sockets Layer certificates, Kernel debugging, RestAPIs, etc.
  • Keen knowledge of Virtualisation, especially with VMWare
  • Ability to lead a team from the front (not line managing) and mentor/guide junior Platform engineering personnel
