Job Description

Upholstery & Furniture Quality InspectorEdinburgh and surrounding region£25,000 to £26,000 + Company Vehicle & BenefitsMy client is a true sofa specialist, providing their customers with exciting ranges of sofa for decades. As part of their Quality & Inspections team, they require an enthusiastic and motivated individual with practical problem-solving skills in Upholstery, who knows their way around furniture and upholstery items such as sofas, chairs and reclinersAs a quality inspector, you will be tasked to resolve defects on furniture and completing random spot checks to ensure quality is of the highest standard. This is a field based role, so you will be required to travel and therefore a company vehicle is provided with full expesenses paidAfter delivery into a customers home, some furniture may become damaged. You will repair the damage to a manufacturing standard for a re-delivery and meet current service level agreements to ensure fast and proactive service is met.Main duties & responsibilities will include:

  • Inspect and repair furniture that has any defects or damage due to shipping/ deliveryEnsure all repairs meet the required quality standard and are free from defect
  • Report on common problems and issues ensuring that management is aware to eliminate the issues in future
  • Actively pursue the resolution of all issues through the inspection, repair and reporting process and guarantee their quality at the end of the process
  • Ensure there are always the resources, products and components locally available to manage any and all issues that may arise now and in the future
  • Carry out quality checks on furniture and spot check when they arrive from the manufacturer (Random Checks)
  • Experience required:
  • A background in upholstery manufacturing, service or quality control
  • Must have a competent level of knowledge on computers and basic software programs
  • A good background in machinery and tools is desired as the role will entail using machinery and tools on a daily basis
