Full Stack Java Developer AWS

Venesky-Browns client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, are currently looking to recruit a Full Stack Java Developer for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of £450-475/day (outside of IR35). Due to the current circumstances this role will be remote based for the foreseeable future. The Role:An experienced full-stack developer with solid commercial AWS development experience is required to accelerate our clients move from legacy on-prem document management and archiving solutions to new cloud-native solutions. The main focus of the work will be the collaborative development of new serverless micro-services using AWS Lambda functions and Typescript/Javascript. However, the development team owns the existing document management systems and support of these will also be required. Responsibilities:• Development and delivery of the Digital Submission Service archive• Development and delivery of the Title Plans archive• Development and delivery of OCR capability for Document Management• Retirement of legacy RAC system• Enhance and support existing document management and archiving products both in the cloud and on-prem.• Demonstrate excellent, sustainable and collaborative software development practice thats focused on delivering highly readable, maintainable and appropriate artefacts.• Actively participate in all team events, leading where specialist knowledge is required and supporting the team to improve their process through inspection and adaptation.• Troubleshooting and fixing development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.• Engage with the wider communities of practice and interest to share knowledge, technique and experience• Coach and mentor other members of staff and advise on team and organisational training requirements• Ensures high quality of developed solutions through development and maintenance of unit tests - with appropriate code coverage - and code analysis using code quality tools,• Ensures that developed software complies with non-functional software requirements such as accessibility, security, UI/UX, performance, maintainability and deployability,• Routinely use collaborative development practices such as pairing and mobbing techniques in programming, code reviews, system design and requirements analysis, etc.Essential Skills:• Enthusiastic about making excellent quality software with other people.• Ability to work with business stakeholders, to understand the context, and to focus on delivering value.• Experience designing and implementing a solution using a service- based and serverless architecture.• Excellent collaboration, communication and teamwork skills• Experience working in the Agile delivery models - such as Scrum and/or Kanban frameworks.• Experience implementing authentication services via Cognito and IAM• Significant commercial experience with the following technologies: AWS, Serverless (Lambda), Typescript, Java, Spring, Python, CDK, React, AngularDesirable Skills:• MongoDB• Domain-driven design• Human-centred, research-driven, inclusive design practices• Testing tools and frameworks• Cloud monitoring, telemetry, intelligence tools and processesIf you would like to hear more about this opportunity please get in touch.
