Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh/Inverness, is currently looking to recruit a Finance Accounting Lead for a 18 month contract on a salary of £38,553-£41,498 (PAYE). This role will be remote with some travel to Edinburghor Inverness. Responsibilities:- Lead on the new finance modules and undertake the role of financial accounting subject matter expert.- Understand current financial accounting processes and practices and how existing systems are used.- Support transitional activities including data cleansing and validation of existing data, as well as working with colleagues to introduce new data requirements- Support and encourage ongoing improvements and innovation, promoting technology as an enabler - Work with stakeholders and the application consultants to configure and implement new business rules, hierarchies and processes within the new system.- Learn and understand the capabilities of how the new system works.- Develop, manage and apply system test cases and scenarios.- Co-ordinate user acceptance testing with end-users.- Develop and document supporting operational procedures. - Develop end-user training materials; deliver end user training; and support end-users after go-live.- Become the financial accounting change champion.- Act as the project’s key contact for financial accounting requirements.Essential Skills:- Proven experience in a finance accounting role with in depth understanding of transactional and asset management processes.- Excellent time management skills demonstrating an ability to prioritise tasks and respond to competing demands.- Experience of working with a range of stakeholders - Excellent numeracy and analytical skills; with the ability to scenario plan, draw conclusions and make recommendations.- Experience of using accounting software packages such as SAGE, ORACLE, eFinancials or similar. - Highly competent IT user with experience of Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.Desirable Skills:- Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions (Oracle, D365, Workday or equivalent).- Experience of working in a project environment. - Experience in a finance role in a Public Sector organisationIf you would like to hear more about this opportunity please get in touch.
