Job Description

Our client, a prestigious educational establishment, seek a Digital Communications Officer for an initial period of 2 months, with potential for a further extension.This attracts a day rate of £200-£230(inside of IR35) umbrella.This role is based in Edinburgh, with some remote working.Main duties:

  • Provide day-today management of digital channels by planning, developing and creating engaging and compliant content which meets business requirements.
  • Assist with team-led communications planning, projects and implementation
  • Co-ordinate user research, site appraisal, analytics reports
  • Support colleagues to deliver content which meet agreed objectives.
  • Provide support to staff using the organisations CMS, editorial guidelines and relevant UK legislative requirements.
  • Attend meetings, keep up-to-date with organisations legislation /software change.
  • Review technical issues/assist in their resolution
Essential Skills:
  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Communications) although commensurate work experience will be considered
  • Ability to pick up new skills quickly
  • Excellent communication skills; a high level of copywriting, editing and proofing skills
  • Ability to follow a style guide at all times
  • Professional IT skills - CMS, MS Office, Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a similar role
  • Experience using CMS to manage websites
  • Experience in creating and editing content for a variety of channels and audiences.
  • Experience / training in Google Analytics
  • Working to deadlines, brand /house style
  • Ability to work in a team / independently
  • Understanding of legal compliance - accessibility and privacy in relation to digital content
  • Ability to provide skill share/ training to staff
  • Well-informed about latest developments / tools used in digital communications and marketing
  • Organisation skills
  • Interest in developing web technology skills
  • Cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience of EdWeb, WordPress and Dotdigital
  • Willingness to work as part of a team
  • Attention to detail / accuracy
  • Flexibility
  • Enthusiasm
