Job Description

Location: EdinburghSalary: £53.1k - £63.3k per annum (Dependent on skills & qualifications)Reference: REQ3181Do you want to be a part of an innovative and supportive team, where there are great opportunities for career progression and developmentAn opportunity has arisen for the position of Design Manager (MOBs and CDS) in the Network Management Distribution team (Risk Management), reporting to the Engineering Assurance Manager. The base location is St Mary Cray, but the successful candidate mustbe willing to travel throughout SGN’s Southern and Scotland Networks to carry out site inspections and attend meetings with other business areas or external parties including building owners.What will you be doing day to day

  • Managing a team of designers
  • Appraisal of standard designs for MOBs
  • Appraisal of complex designs for MOBs and CDS installations
  • Producing technical reports
  • Ensure designs are compliant with the relevant Legislation and technical standards
  • Work with operational teams on application of designs
  • Manage any design variations on projects
  • Work with Local Authorities and other 3rd parties on planning and approval of designs
  • Provide technical support on MOBs and CDS as needed within SGN
  • Supporting the wider Network Management team with other tasks when required
What you’ll need
  • You must be a qualified Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or working towards this
  • You will have previous experience in Engineering Design
  • You will ideally have experience of managing staff
  • You must be able to demonstrate a history of successfully delivering projects, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong technical knowledge and understanding of the gas network
  • Highly motivated with a flexible approach
  • Ability to respond and adapt quickly to change; and meet tight deadlines
  • The role will require some travel around the UK, therefore you must have a valid driving licence
